Blue Cross and Blue Shield Pathways Grant

Pathways helps lead community efforts to make Bourbon County a healthier, more vibrant place to live. The Pathways to a Healthy Kansas initiative, funded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, supports projects that improve things like access to healthy food, opportunities for physical activity, and overall community well-being.

We work with local organizations, schools, businesses, and other partners to get these projects off the ground and keep them moving. That may mean helping a local store carry more fresh produce, supporting trails and sidewalks, encouraging tobacco-free policies, or planning community events that bring people together.

Pathways is really about connecting the dots and making sure everyone is working together, staying on track, and thinking long-term. We facilitate and coordinate technical assistance calls, utilize promotional tools like radio ads, keep track of our progress, share success stories, and help make sure the work we're doing lasts well beyond the life of the grant.

For this grant period, we are working with:

  • USD 234 on a Farm to School Package
  • The Kitchen Collective to support their Incubator Kitchen
  • HBCAT’s Entrepreneurship Program
  • City of Mapleton Placemaking project with new trails and lighting at the ball park
