The Community Health Worker (CHW) serves as a trusted bridge between community members and the resources they need to live healthier, more vibrant lives. Their work involves connecting individuals and families with services such as food assistance, housing support, health care access, transportation, and other critical resources.
In addition to health-related support, They also serve as a recruitment and engagement tool for our organization’s small business and economic development efforts. They help connect aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners to our in-house mentorship program and business development support, and Kansas works career advisors. By encouraging local economic growth and self-sufficiency, we help strengthen the foundation of a healthier community.
Whether that’s at local events, community centers, or in their own neighborhoods, I can help them identify barriers to wellness. From there, I offer support, guidance, and follow-up to ensure they’re not navigating these challenges alone.
A big part of our work is building relationships with community members, local organizations, and service providers. Community Health Workers also advocate for community needs and work on projects that promote equity and long-term change. Their ultimate goal is to empower people and strengthen our community through compassionate, practical support.
